Shine On - Silverdale

Shine On is a women’s fashion brand. After we designed their store at The Base in Hamilton, they asked us to bring the same experience to the Silverdale Centre in Auckland. The concept was built to scale from the start, so our job here was to fit it to a new tenancy while keeping the warm, softly feminine feel that makes a Shine On store recognisable.

It starts at the shopfront, where timber battens and an arched sign frame the entrance and draw people in from the mall. Inside, suspended timber slats and woven pendants bring the ceiling down to a more intimate scale. Arches repeat through the store, in the openings, the shelving niches and the counter, so there’s a gentle rhythm as you move through. We laid the store out as a journey. Round display tables and flexible wall displays let the team restyle for each season, and the denim wall with its fit guide makes a tricky purchase simple. The soft palette stays in the background so the clothing is always the hero.

The fitting rooms carry a runway feel, with a corridor of arched doors and round mirrors that makes trying something on feel like an occasion. Since opening, shoppers have been quick to mention how bright and well laid out the store is.
