El Quincho

El Quincho is an Argentinian BBQ restaurant tucked into the Riverside Market in Christchurch. The brief was to create a space that captures the life and vibrancy of Argentina and gives diners an authentic taste of South America from the moment they walk in.

At its heart, El Quincho is about the asado, the wood-fired BBQ where Argentinians gather to cook, eat and share a meal with the people they love. We designed the space to feel just as social and warm as that ritual. Bold colour, charred timber and a mix of eclectic furniture come together to echo a South American streetscape, giving the room its character and a real sense of place. The result is a lively, memorable spot to eat, drink and linger. And the BBQ is pretty special too.
